August has started just as hot so who knows how it will continue. Traditionally we have a big storm on 15 August which changes the weather completely, bringing huge relief and a cooler transition into autumn. But we are in strange times.

Following on - well there was one rainy evening when we were able to harvest some water, on the Sunday of the re-opening of the hamlet’s chapel after a big restoration by volunteers. However it has ended with a run of 35℃ + days and everywhere is parched and tinder-dry. Nevertheless, thanks to daily watering at dawn, we have had a lovely crop of summer vegetables which show little sign of slowing down.
